The South Canterbury Four Wheel Drive Club, based in Timaru, was formed in 1976 and presently has approximately 70 members . The purpose of the club is to promote family four wheel driving in South Canterbury in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. As well as trips, the Club organizes Training Days on an annual basis were members can try a range of 4wd situations under guidance of more experienced members.

The club is made of: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Club Captain, Vehicle Scrutineers, Sheriffs, Training, Committee Members. The committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meeting and meets monthly Monday nights.

The club magazine is published monthly and emailed to all financial members. The magazine has details of coming club activities, Reports on club trips, meeting minutes, sheriffs reports and general information.
Club trips range from one day local to weekend trips to areas such as Central Otago, North Canterbury and The West Coast. Weekend trips sometimes include camping out.
